The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado HD marks the final model year before the pickup undergoes a full redesign. A truck known for its impressive performance and capability, the Chevrolet Silverado HD bears a striking resemblance to its smaller sibling. The heavy duty truck stays the course and doesn’t see much more than minor updates for the 2019 model year.
2019 Chevrolet Silverado HD Performance
As in previous models, the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado HD arrives with gasoline and diesel engine options. The standard 6.0-liter gas V8 engine generates 360 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. The Duramax 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8 engine produces 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque. The gas engine comes paired with a six-speed heavy-duty automatic transmission. The turbo-diesel engine comes mated to a six-speed Allison automatic transmission.
Towing capacities vary according to trim level and powertrain. The Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, for example, tows up to 14,400 lbs. when equipped with the gas engine. Models equipped with the turbo-diesel V8 option can tow up to 15,400 lbs. The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD ups the ante with 14,200-lbs. and 23,100-lbs. maximum towing capacities with the gas and turbo-diesel engines respectively.
2019 Chevrolet Silverado HD Special Editions
The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado HD arrives with several special editions that make each truck stand out on the road. Ranging from the iconic Midnight Edition to the intimidating Alaskan Edition, there’s a Silverado HD special edition for every driver.
Tribute Edition
The Tribute Edition is available on the Silverado HD LTZ. The special edition includes unique flag decals and badging along the sides. Black bowties and a chrome skid plate complete the patriotic look.
Custom Sport Edition
The Custom Sport Edition is available on LT LTZ Crew Cab models. Athletic 20-inch wheels and chrome side molding create a sporty appearance. A body-color grille and bumpers add a upscale aesthetic to the intimidating Silverado HD.
Alaskan Edition
The Alaskan Edition is available on WT and LT trim levels. Alaskan Bear graphics and amber roof marker lights add an aggressive aesthetic to the heavy duty truck. A spray-in bedliner and a raised Chevy bowtie insignia allow drivers to show their Chevy pride.
Midnight Edition
The Midnight Edition has become a staple of the Chevrolet Lineup. The Chevrolet Silverado HD Midnight Edition is available on 2500HD LT and LTZ Crew Cab models. The special edition includes black 18-inch wheels wrapped in off-road tires. A black bowtie, grille, and bumpers add an intimidating touch to the heavy duty truck. Z71 door badges complete the rugged look.
2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD Sneak Peek
The all-new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD will feature plenty of new changes in both style and amenities. Although we likely won’t see the heavy duty truck for a few months, we do know what to expect from the upcoming model.
We got a sneak peek at the Chevrolet Silverado HD High Country trim in December 2018. The range-topping trim features more chrome and a bowtie logo across the center of the grille. Running boards and larger chrome wheels separate the High Country from lower trim levels.
There’s no word on powertrains and performance for the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD. The upcoming model will make its official debut at the Chicago Auto Show. So far, Chevrolet has revealed the all-new Silverado HD will boast a higher seating position, more rear legroom, and new powertrain options.
The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado HD continues to serve hardworking drivers well. The model’s reliability and capability make it one of the toughest trucks in the industry. With the 2020 model right around the corner, the Chevrolet Silverado HD continues to uphold its reputation for excellence.
