Heavy-duty trucks are some of the toughest vehicles on the road, and the 2019 Ford Super Duty leads the pack. The latest model comes equipped with several high-end technologies often reserved for luxury cars. Immense towing and payload ratings ensure that this truck can handle anything and everything life throws at it. With performance changes on the way, the Ford Super Duty is bound to be better than ever.
Ford Super Duty Updates
The 2019 Ford Super Duty updates are few and far in between, but each one changes the way drivers experience the road. First and foremost, performance remains the same from the previous model year. As far as cosmetic changes, the Ford Super Duty is available with a new Lariat Sport package for the 2019 model year.
Most of this year’s updates come in the form of high-end technology often reserved for luxury cars. The 2018 model’s 10-speaker Sony sound system is no longer available. A 10-speaker B&O PLAY sound system replaces the outgoing upgrade. A new onboard Wi-Fi hotspot can connect up to 10 devices to the internet. All 2019 Super Duty models feature an eight-inch touchscreen display and the SYNC 3 infotainment system.
Ford Super Duty Towing
There’s no denying the 2019 Ford Super Duty is renowned for its impressive capability. Like its smaller sibling, the Ford F-150, the Ford Super Duty boasts best-in-class ratings that put competitors to shame.
The Ford Super Duty features best-in-class conventional and gooseneck tow ratings. A properly equipped model offers a conventional towing capacity of 21,000 lbs. The truck’s gooseneck towing rating comes in at 35,000 lbs. The Ford Super Duty offers a maximum fifth-wheel tow rating of 27,500 lbs. as well.
The Ford Super Duty features a best-in-class payload rating as well. A properly equipped model can haul up to 7,640 lbs. With that kind of muscle behind it, the Ford Super Duty is ideal for working around the house, construction jobs, and pulling boats to the lake.
2020 Ford Super Duty Sneak Peek
The current-generation Ford Super Duty hit the market in 2017, but the American automaker is already hard at work with more updates. Auto enthusiasts recently spotted the 2020 ford Super Duty with full camouflage. Although cosmetic changes appear minimal, the upcoming medium-sized truck will feature revamped performance.
The 2020 Ford Super Duty is expected to say goodbye to its 6.8-liter V10 engine that originally debuted in 1997. A 7.0-liter V8 engine that delivers higher torque and better fuel economy replaces the outgoing engine. That translates to better towing and payload capacities, as well as longer trips.
There’s no word on whether the 6.2.-liter V8 engine will be available in the updated Ford Super Duty. Diesel fans need not worry, though. The 6.8-liter Power Stroke Turbodiesel V8 engine isn’t going anywhere. 2019 Ford Super Duty models equipped with the turbodiesel engine can tow up to 21,000 lbs. when properly equipped. Truck enthusiasts should expect that number to rise once the updated truck launches for the 2020 model year.
